Mariella Diaz found yoga in Newark Liberty International Airport at the age of 13. After a flight delay of over 12 hours she remembers telling herself to be present, as if she had only started to wait. Several years later she attempted her first yoga class - a very advanced, very hot, vinyasa flow. Two icepacks and a viewing of Avatar later, she connected these two moments as the culmination of a practice she would honor and love. She received her RYT 200 from Powerflow Yoga, formerly Garden State Yoga, under the invigorating and dedicated instruction of Stacey Bell-Elder, Seth Weisberg, Alison McCue, Jody Domerstad, Jessica Sporn and mentor Becky Middleton. Mariella teaches a class that is meditative and reflective: to allow the force of your practice to create its own intensity, to not be afraid to pull back as a way to look forward, and to (as the breath) rise and fall with the asana to flow into a practice that can continue in this motion, on and off the mat.
